Sing Spoonie Songs

Good Morning, Loves!

* Please check out the Spoonie Suggestions and Song of the Week sections to see some new, updated posts! *

On my Tumblr blog I began editing these Disney songs in a Spoonie way! People have responded pretty well to them so I wanted to share them on my own domain!

  1. I’ve got doctors and meds a-plenty
I’ve got canes and braces galore
    You want mobility aids?
    I’ve got twenty!

But who cares?
No big deal
I seem fine

I wanna be where the people are
I wanna be, wanna be them dancing’
Walking around on those – what do you call ‘em?
Oh – feet

And ready to know what the doctors know

Ask ’em my questions and get some answers
What’s this pain and why does it – what’s the word?
Hurt?

When’s it my turn?
Wouldn’t I love, love to explore that life out these walls?
Out of the beds
Wish I could be
Part of that world….

My version of “Part of Your World”

2. Try this med! Get this test!
Blood, urine, CT next!
Blood pressure cuff, o2 stats,
Height and weight, all the facts
Pain today
Fatigue is worse
This is Chronic Illness curse
Take this yellow stuff
It’s disgusting
Don’t believe me? Ask my cousin
They can talk, And think it’s true
After all, they’re doctors too
Come on and try this cream
And ask for this report
Take a chance for pain relief
And we’ll debrief!
Try this med!

3. You think your pain is only where it started
You think that it will always stay the same
But chronic illness is a wicked creature
One that is impossible to tame

You think the pain is the only danger
And that fatigue is just the flu
But it’s like your body is a stranger
You’ll feel things you never knew, you never knew

Have you ever stayed awake in pain all night long
Or been unable to move for days
Have you begged for control over your body
Can you feel the temperature of the wind

My revamped Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas lyrics.

4. Pain as old as time
Harsh as it can be
Pill or cream to blend
Blood tests to send
Inexplicably

Just an awkward change
Large to say the least
Always more than scared
Never once prepared

Chronic Pain and Me

Never just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before and ever just as sure as the sun will rise

My revamped “Beauty and the Beast”

5. Here’s this patient
Sitting here in the room
Tears in her eyes, pain on her face
And there’s something about her
And she looks so sad
And she hurts so bad
You wanna fix the girl

You listen closely
Look at her, you want to help
Which symptom is worst
You examine her first
It don’t take a word
Not a single word
Go on and fix the girl

Revamped “Kiss The Girl” From The Little Mermaid

6. Aladdin: I can show you the world
Healthy, open, and normal
Tell me, spoonie, now when did
You last take your medicine?

Aladdin: I can pull out your chair
Take you to doctor and doctor
Rheumatologist or surgeon,
I will use a parking pass

Aladdin: A whole new world
A new fantastic med to try
Doctors to tell us here and where to be
Or say we’re only dreaming

Princess Jasmine: Every turn a new symptom

Aladdin: With new side effects you’re going to hate
Both: I’ll chase them anywhere
There’s no time to spare
Let me share this whole new world with you

My revamped version of “A Whole New World” from Aladdin
